The first two cycles of divine discipline will bring about suffering as we reap what we sow in disobedience to God.

(1) Poor health including mental illnesses.

(2) Rampant unfounded fears.

(3) Military ambivalence at the highest levels.

(4) Economic recession and economic depression follows.

I will remind you that it is the spin-off of apostate negative believers who are driving much of this suffering upon our nation. For as the nation is blessed by association to the positive believer, so likewise is the nation cursed by association to the negative believer.

The other disciplines of cycles one and two follow, but now is added cycle three.

Please note that one form of discipline is not replaced by another. The previous form of discipline is multiplied throughout the population seven times, and then other forms are added on. This is compounded divine discipline.

Cycle Three

Lev.26:21-22, Deut.28:25-26 Disease and Crime

Plagues, otherwise known as epidemics, come in many forms and they come under the watchful eye of God when they are used as instruments of correction. See Nat. Geo. Oct.2005 issue, p.12-25.

We see from Ex.8:16-24 where God sent aggravating stinging sand gnats and swarms of disease ridden flies that ruined the land and homes of the Egyptians. They not only ruined the food they landed on, but they tormented the Egyptians.

This was God’s judgment on the unbelieving Egyptians for not letting the children of Israel go to worship the Lord in the wilderness.

Some may say God wouldn’t permit divine discipline to come upon his own people, but such folks do not know the word of God, Rom.11:21; Heb.10:22-31. Do you realize that there are less people going to church today than ever before who call themselves Christians? A high percentage of these people who call themselves born again believers say there is more than one way to heaven. God is angry.

Humans spread many diseases and even more when they involve sexually transmitted diseases, but pests such as rodents, and birds and flies and mosquitoes can do a world of harm. These little beasts are still the deadliest today. God said in Lev.26:21 that He would bring seven times more the deadly plagues upon Israel if she did not repent. This would apply to any client nation.

The violence of that day was by the wild animals, II Kings 17:25-26 as they freely roamed the cities and countryside. Their presence would intensify by seven times, and thus so will the presence of the small microbe creatures that cause death intensify as well. The God who moves the mighty winds and waters to do his bidding has also used the smallest of organisms to bring men and women to their senses. This would depopulate the nation to some degree.

Another form of discipline is noted by the term “wild beasts” as seen in Lev.26:22. This term refers to violent youth. In our streets are thugs who live like wild beasts.

Other than recognizing that sin abides in all of us what else has led to such behavior?

When parents become distracted by economic pressures, and social changes children are the first to be ignored.

We now have to work harder and longer hours for the same amount of purchasing power. This started with the first curse, Lev.26:16 “sowing seed in vain: the second curse, 26:20 your strength is spent in vain, i.e. you can’t get ahead..

Parents today have a hard time raising their children because there is so much peer pressure from their children’s friends; class mates and the media. Society has scowled and become intolerant of old fashioned biblical correction. We are now paying for society’s scowl and interference into the raising of our children.

Many parents and children have become disillusioned about life. Many children suffer from severe forms of depression and anxiety and some become violent. Children who are not made to behave and whose parents are always making excuses for their poor behavior do not realize they are contributing to the crime wave that is taking over our nation. A child who is lead to believe he or she is not the blame for their wrong actions will grow up thinking everyone else is wrong except themselves. They will feel they are entitled to what belongs to others and they will take it by force if necessary. When others bully them they react and take it out on the innocent who get in the way of their vengeance.

They have no conscience in killing people and terrorizing them. And the liberal minded law makers and judges often times try to tie the hands of parents who biblically correct and rear their children, and when these children become uncontrollable and commit crimes they let these criminals go with as little as a slap on the wrist. When Bible doctrine is not exercised to influence the minds of those who rule as our law makers and judges then divine justice will soon be on the way to rule for them. The justice of God does not sleep.

Next, the destruction of cattle in Lev.26:22 can be seen as the modern day destruction of our personal property. Often this is the work of rebellious youth who are anti-authority oriented. The highways being desolate in v.22 refers to people’s fears of gangs and thugs in the general public because the government does not prosecute the evil doers in an apostate nation who has turned from God.

These young folks are depicted in Prov.30:11-14 where we see the four generation curse.

The Four Generation Curse

Here we see a progression of obstinate children who..

(1) curse their parents,v.11 ;

(2) are haughty and arrogant v.12

(3) they think they are better than others as self-righteousness sets in v.13,

(4) and v.14 they fill the streets with crime while daring you to look at them or touch them. These young folks are getting younger and younger as elementary age children are now involved in capital offenses and domestic crimes.

Unbridled crime is the evidence that a society has abandoned the laws of divine establishment. It is the evidence that true common sense developed by sound Bible instruction has been ignored. The government is constantly working to take all parental authority away from the parents.

When children are not disciplined biblically then ruin will come to a nation. When judges and law makers go easy on the criminal then there will be a rise in the number of victims.

Read Deut.32:15-31. We must heed the instructions from the Lord.
