Election Issues Overlooked

We have just gone through two long years of selecting our next president. At the time of this writing the American people are out in large numbers voting for their candidate of choice. All of the political speeches and promises and bashing filling the air waves is finally coming to an end. Only God knows who will win this election, but it is certainly a big election most concur. Economics and foreign policy have upstaged any other issues that might seem important to us. The right to life for the unborn has drifted so far from front and center in this election that no candidate or journalist or citizen seems to care. And yet without life we have nothing. Our future economic survival seems to be more important than the innocent human life of a baby. Our greatest asset is constantly said to be the American people. However, more emphasis is put on what we can do to grow the economy, than is put on the value of our existence as human beings. Our children and grandchildren are the future of America. Ps.127:3 “Lo, children are an heritage from the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Can you imagine when Jesus Christ rules this world in his earthly millennial kingdom allowing doctors to abort the unborn children. Can you imagine Jesus Christ having abortion in mind when he said to his disciples when they asked him how to pray wherein he replied, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Do we, as an alleged Christian nation, for one moment think abortion is the will of God?

Prov.21:15 “It is joy to the just to do justice, but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.”

If our leaders support destruction of human life, at the most innocent level, and we vote them into public office are we not also guilty and shall God not also bring justice to us as well?

My prayers rest on the promise found in our next verse.

Prov.21:1 “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water, he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

Even though we are not a theocratic kingdom such as Israel was, we are still a client nation unto God. We still need God to turn the heart of our president to do right by God. If God so determines, he can use our leaders to bless us or bring cursing to us; after all, in a democratic society we get to choose the leaders who reflect the viewpoint of the majority.

If America selects its leaders then those leaders are simply a reflection of America, good or bad. As believers in Jesus Christ our mission does not change regardless of who takes over the White House. We are still first and foremost ambassadors of heaven. Our primary policies are supposed to reflect God’s viewpoint. When the churches in America neglect the Bible they are neglecting God’s viewpoint. When this occurs we will see Ps.2:1-5 come to pass just as it has for millennia’s past. “Why do the nations rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? {The answer is because;} The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel against the Lord, and against his anointed {Jesus Christ}, saying, Let us break their bands asunder and cast away their cords from us.{Let us cast off the presence of God and his word in society.}He who sitteth in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall have them in derision, Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his hot displeasure.”

Is this what we want to become of our nation? Do we mock at life as if life were only biological, wherein at death we simply cease to exist. The Bible says we are made in the image of God. When do you think the image of God is formed in us?

The Bible says the image of God is formed in us while we are still in the womb. From Isa.49:5 Isaiah said the Lord formed him from his mother’s womb to be the servant of the Lord. King David said the same thing in Ps.139:13-16.

Exodus 21:22-23 declares that if a woman bearing an unborn child is hurt while trying to stop a fight between men, and the unborn child die {miscarriage} due to the woman being hurt, then a life is required for the life of the child that is killed. The unborn fetus is viewed in this passage as just as much a human being as its mother; the abortion of a fetus was considered murder. Bible Knowledge Commentary - Old Testament p.141

The most dangerous place in the world for a child since Roe vs. Wade is not in some malaria infested jungle in the Amazon, or some war torn third world country; it is that child’s own mother’s womb, and we have legalized this procedure in our nation.

If we want God to bless us and our nation we must honor human life over profits. If we want God to bless our nation we must never forget his warning as seen in Gen.12:3 regarding Israel. “ I will bless them that bless thee and I will curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.”

As I finish this letter two days following the election the presidential candidate has been chosen. May God protect us and may we strive even more to get the message of the gospel out to as many people as possible. May we take a closer look at the promises of God’s word and store them in our hearts.

“And that knowing the time, that now is it high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent; the day is at hand; let us, therefore, cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” Rom.13:11-12

This candidate has promised before the entire world that he will work to bring down the walls that separate Christianity and the Islamic world. The wall I see that separates these two different beliefs is the person of Jesus Christ, and the inspiration of God’s word, the Bible. We see Jesus Christ as the Son of God, fully God and fully man without sin. He is the only sin bearer sent to the world to take away the sins of the world. To us he is our Savior, but to the Islamic world he is just another prophet, just another man of God.

Keep your eyes on the horizon and an ear bent toward the sound of the trumpet of the Lord. Be prepared to see concessions made with world leaders who hate our way of life and our Savior, Jesus Christ. Get in the word of God and learn it like you have never learned it before. “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ but their own body, and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the innocent.” Rom.16:17-18

Your faith will be tried like it has never been tried before in the up coming years. Do not let the details of life distract you from coming and hearing the teaching of the word of God.
